HSA and FSA (Flex) Spending at Lorentzen Dental
HSA and FSA (Flex) dollars can go a long way at the dentist. According to Invostopedia.com:
“The basic rule is that anything that treats or prevents a dental disease is eligible for FSA coverage. This includes teeth cleaning, fillings, sealants, crowns, bonding, dentures, tooth extraction, inlays, onlays, and all diagnostic and preventative services. Treatments for gingivitis, temporomandibular joint syndrome and disorder, gum recession and oral surgery are covered. Some FSAs cover orthodontia.”
Many of our patients over 50 are ecstatic to hear their HSA can be used to fix problems with their teeth. Right at a time when age can wear on teeth and start to cause discomfort or have damage, they have built up their HSA to a point where it can cover the restorative procedures necessary to restore comfort and functionality.
Flex and HSA through an employer may have it’s own set of rules so it’s best to talk to our office manager Sandy to see if she is familiar with the plan, or check with your employer directly. Keep in mind neither Flex or HSA can be used for purely aesthetic procedures.
