If you lift weights, you enjoy an intense workout. However, high levels of strain on your body can have an effect on your teeth - in the form of clenching your jaw.

Many weightlifters clench their teeth when they lift. The human jaw has the capacity to exert 100 pounds of pressure - that’s enough to wear down enamel and in some cases crack a tooth. Other signs of clenching can be headaches, sore facial muscles and swollen cheeks; similar to many symptoms of TMJ.

A simple solution is custom mouth guards - made in house at Lorentzen Dental. Mouth guards act as a buffer between teeth and lessen the tension on the muscles in the jaw.
